Amelia has provided children with individualized education for the past 8 years. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor Degree in Linguistics. Growing up in a family where every immediate member was diagnosed with a learning difference, she intuitively gained the skills necessary to later work one on one with children who require special education. She began her experience tutoring in the Houston and Katy area after graduating from college in 2011. At the Brookwood Community, she worked as a work program teacher, helping adults with disabilities gain employable skills.

In 2016, Amelia began working at The Monarch School and Institute for Neurological Differences. She received her teaching certification in Special Education EC-12 and taught middle and high school students. She created a math lab intervention program for students grades K-8 and worked to bridge educational gaps.

In her role as the Educational Specialist at The Next Step Academy Amelia provides academic enrichment, intervention, and tutoring that is customized to meet the needs of the individual. She coordinates her sessions with the therapeutic team and integrates behavior management plans into her academic time, maximizing the effectiveness of the educational instruction. Amelia has been part of The Next Step Academy Team since August 2019. .

Outside of work, Amelia enjoys backpacking in the mountains, camping with her dogs, and creating original art.
